Here in Vila do Maracá, we make our living from harvesting chestnuts, but this year's production was severely affected by the weather, significantly reducing the community's purchasing power and increasing the chestnut harvesters' debts. The Instituto Terroá is providing explanations and raising awareness so we understand that if we don't change, the coming years will be even more difficult. They will work primarily at Evilásio School, helping students take this knowledge home and mobilize the village. The Instituto's presence is crucial now, even with our limitations, and we hope to further develop this work together in the future.
